HOWTO QUICKIE: INSTALL DEBIAN NETINST
Intro
This is intended to be short and efficient.
This HOWTO QUICKIE Uses the Debian (Sarge) 3.1 rev 3 netinst minimal image for installation.
Make sure whatever you are plugging your NIC into offers DHCP.
Begin
Boot off of the CD. Tweak any BIOS or such settings to accomplish this if necessary.
# Pick your regional settings.
# Press Enter
# Type hostname (ex.: ns2 )
# Domain name (ex.: krr.org )
# If you opt to Manually edit partitions, see the partitioning chart
# Yes for GRUB
# Remove the CD
# Continue
# System bounces ...
# OK
# No for GMT
# Select your time zone
# Enter your desired root password
# Enter your desired root password, again
# Full Name (Ex.: Times Enemy)
# Username (Ex.: times)
# Enter your desired new user password
# Enter your desired new user password, again
# ftp
# Select your preferred mirror
# Do not select any software, just OK
# Enter for local delivery only; not on a network
# Enter for default root and postmaster mail recipient
# OK
